The mission of the West Elementary Community is to provide a superior educational experience where students succeed academically, physically, and socially while developing an appreciation for the arts, our community, and our country.

West Elementary’s Purpose

The West Elementary School community has established that we are experiencing success together when we are:

Increasing Academic Proficiency

Developing Social Competency

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Practicing Good Citizenship

Fostering an Appreciation of the Fine Arts

Building Relationships Between School, Home and Community

Providing a Positive Learning Environment

These purposes will serve as the focus for planning and assessing school performance. Accomplishment of these purposes will guide allocations of time and resources.

West Elementary Receives $40,000 from Gov.  Bob Riley

Governor Bob Riley presented West Elementary School with a $40,000 State Department of Education Award for Exceeding the Challenge on the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test (ARMT) at the State School Board Meeting Thursday, September 13, 2007 in Montgomery, Alabama.  Both of the eligible West Elementary student groups (Economically Disadvantaged and LEP Students) obtained higher proficiency rates in reading and math than the state average.  Statewide, only 13 elementary schools received $40,000 for two sub-groups exceeding the state average in both reading and math.
